On day 13 >>
When we visited Yousef today, he was completely out - sedated
his temperature was 35.1,
They have washed him down in whirlpool with antibacterial surgical bleach... this is a procedure done to get rid of the the latest bacteria infection he got from the hospital...
it is quite normal for a burn patient to get a temperature as low as 34 after the washing down procedure, so we were assured by his doctor (the head of the ICU and directly responsible for Yousuf).
They had a machine directed over his bed to warm him up...
they expect him to be ready tomorrow for his third operation and first in kind
they are going to operate on both of his arms using his own skin
this is actually good news.
they would not do that unless they are 100% sure that the area has no infection and ready to heal.... so they help with his own skin.
tomorrow we will have to visit him late as the doctor said that we would be able to see him after 5 pm, i will keep you posted.
Mr. Alan Glodt, Yousef's third grade teacher has sent me a message that i would like to share with you all.
We all can learn from a great teacher.
thank you all for your continued prayers.
i leave you with his words:
"So very sorry to hear of your heartbreaking news. Betty and I are already praying and have sent very positive medicine your way. No one will ever be able to explain why we must experience these occasional setbacks in an otherwise pretty tolerable life. Years ago I came up with what I call "The Comparison Theory". It teaches us that we have to experience the lowest of lows in order to really appreciate the highest of highs.
The comparison is what gives us the knowledge to know and understand the difference. If we have never witnessed hurricane force winds we would likely complain about breezes that blow our napkins off the picnic blanket. If we never felt the heat of the desert we would complain when a slight chill caused us to put on a light jacket. We complain when our feet hurt until we see a man with no legs.
My point, Yousuf, is that you have been given one huge comparison. You will grow stronger because it. When others complain about pain; you will listen and compare. You won't have to speak; people will know that you understand pain. Some will stop complaining. This is your new gift.
Stay strong; you have always been destined to accomplish great things. Now, you have another tool to help you move the mountains. Use it wisely.
Your teacher, your friend,"
